Volunteering is a great way to network with other members, and build relationships! All committees work collaboratively and meet in person, or by tele-conference as needed. Each committee works closely with a designated NYC Metro Chapter board member. Committee members must be current NYC Metro chapter members.
This committee is the engine behind NYC Metro Chapter publicity efforts and seeks members with strong communications skills particularly in the areas of public relations and media relations. Members with press release writing ability, content creation (newsletters/event program brochures) are encouraged to be a part of the communications team.
This committee is the energy behind NYC Metro Chapter digital media and marketing platforms and seeks members with strong social media expertise, content development experience, design skills, and marketing know-how. Members with IT/technology backgrounds, expertise in content management and website maintenance are needed to be a part of the digital media + marketing team.
We want every woman in sports business in the NY metropolitan area to know about WISE! The Membership Committee plans recruitment and membership retention activities as well as membership campaigns that will attract women from local sports business organizations (pro teams, college/university athletic departments, agencies, and other related entities) to join WISE as Corporate Members.
The Membership Committee also oversees the chapter’s “Member Meet-Up” networking events, the chapter’s members-only “Book Club”. Our Membership Committee knows how to “work a room” at chapter events and activities to make non-members feel welcome and educate them on WISE. Members who enjoy meeting and interacting with a cross section of new people with experience in sales, recruiting, development, and events are invited to join the team.
To help advance our mission as a resource for professional women in sports business, the Membership Development Committee assists with the development of initiatives beyond core programming events that exclusively offer members additional opportunities for professional growth and development. The Membership, Development Committee implements member-only programming such as the Dine & Learn series and Financial Fitness workshops. Members with strong organizational and program planning skills are encouraged to join this committee.
As a non-profit networking organization, we rely heavily on partners and alliances to deliver programs and valuable resources to our members. The Partnerships Committee focuses on creating revenue-generating opportunities for the chapter, secures event sponsorships, and special promotional offers for WISE NYC Metro Chapter members. The Partnerships Committee seeks members with a background in sponsorship sales, fundraising, partnership marketing, new business development, or brand management. Experience working with non-profit organizations/associations is helpful.
This committee coordinates event logistics behind the scenes, manages the event registration process, and oversees on-site event-day operations for NYC Metro Chapter morning program events (2-3 panel discussions per year, inclusive of Power Play.). The Program Events committee is looking for members who have a knack for pulling together details to create the big picture, have experience in planning and executing events, have the ability to wrangle top-notch talent (speakers/facilitators) and have their fingers on the pulse of what’s new and happening in the sports business events landscape. Experience working with non-profit organizations/associations is helpful.
The Special Events Committee is the driving force behind the NYC Metro Chapter Women of Inspiration awards event held annually in December and the Summer Kick-Off party each June. Occasionally, the Special Events team will take the lead on events that fall outside of the scope of core programs. In the past, this committee led chapter events such as: Power of the Pump (afterwork event to kick-off the NY/NJ Super Bowl week), Raise the Barre (core-training class during heart health month to raise awareness of heart disease in women) and Fitness and Wellness Expo (fitness classes and well-woman health talks) . The Special Events Committee is an ideal fit for members with a background in events, production, and event marketing who want to focus on two large-scale projects annually. Experience working with non-profit organizations/associations is helpful.
The national signature program of WISE, WISE Within is an integrated, guided mentoring program with a proven track record of providing valuable career resources. WISE Within offers a truly unique opportunity to accelerate professional development by connecting mid-level professional women to senior executives through facilitated group sessions, personal one-to-one mentoring and national online resources. The NYC Metro Chapter’s WISE Within Committee works to facilitate WISE’s national mentoring program in the NYC region and is involved in the execution of all phases of the program including mentor to mentee matching and overseeing three (3) facilitated mentoring sessions held during the program cycle, April-September. This committee is also responsible for the Speed Mentoring Roundtable event held annually in January. Members with expertise in recruiting, human resources, professional development, and events are needed on this committee.
